About the Author

Christopher Earls Brennen was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA, MA and DPhil in Engineering Science. He served on the faculty at the California Institute of Technology beginning in 1969 and, at various times, also served that institution as Executive Officer of Mechanical Engineering, Master of Student Houses, Dean of Students and Vice-President for Student Affairs. He has written four previous books, " Cavitation and Bubble Dynamics" (Cambridge University Press) (which has been translated and published in China), "Hydrodynamics of Pumps" (Oxford Univ. Press and Concepts ETI) (which has also been translated and published in China and Japan), "Fundamentals of Multiphase Flow" (Cambridge Univ. Press) and " Thermohydraulics of Nuclear Reactors" (Cambridge Univ. Press).
